Hanoi (VNA) – A scientific seminar “Public health in Vietnam: current situation and future perspective” was held in Hanoi on April 25, attracting scientists and policymakers at home and abroad.

Addressing the event, Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Viet Tien said suggestions at the event will be used as a reference for policymaking in public health issues, including , health of the elderly, , emerging infectious diseases, health policies and insurance, and fairness in public healthcare.

The seminar featured seven thematic sessions on medical system management, alcohol abuse, the impact on health of smoking, hospital management, HIV/AIDS prevention – the roles of society, economy, medicine and global cooperation.

Foreign experts from the , the World Bank, universities of the US and the Republic of Korea presented an overview of public healthcare in several Asian countries.

The event was co-hosted by the Hanoi School of Public Health and the Vietnam Public Health Association.-VNA
