for their contributions to Vietnam’s health sector.

public health at Sorbonne University in Paris on June 15.

In the past 25 years, more than 20 programmes were held in
the fields of doctor training, technology transfer, public and preventive
health, and scientific research. Around 3,000 Vietnamese doctors were trained
at France’s hospitals, while many French professors taught at medical
universities in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong city and Thua Thien-Hue
province.

Vietnam also contributes three members to the Pasteur
Institute network, namely the Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute, Nha Trang
Pasteur Institute and National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.

Minister Tien revealed that a new cooperative agreement will
be signed between the two ministries in late 2018, with the priority given to
training of health workers; scientific research on infections, pharmacy and
vaccine; investment in producing drugs and vaccine; health management; and
primary healthcare.

Experts at the conference agreed that in 2018, the two
countries maintain their diverse cooperation. However, cooperation methods will
change due to the appearance of new diseases related to the environment and
population aging, bigger expectations of the society for the health sector, and
climate change threats.-VNA
