Da Nang (VNA) – A training programme on management of
at workplaces is underway in the central city of Da Nang
from May 5-7, attracting medical workers from preventive medical centres in 24
provinces and cities.
The programme was co-organised by the Health Ministry’s
Health Environment Management Agency and the ()
on the occasion of the Action Month for Labour Safety and Hygiene.
NUS experts shared experience in medical workers’ role in labour
accidents, occupational health situation and services, and health check-up
management at workplaces.
Prof. Norbert Wagner from NUS said noise, dust, hazardous
chemicals and unsafe machines in workplaces all affect workers’ health so
medical workers should help devise plans to respond to emergency cases, hold
training courses on first aid to workers, and raise their awareness of labour
hygiene and occupational disease prevention.
He stressed the need to investigate accidents at work to
help victims receive satisfactory treatment and compensation and prompt
employers to take proper measures to ensure workers’ health and safety.
Doctor Gan Wee Hoe from NUS described periodic health check-up
as one of the effective measures to ensure workers’ productivity.-VNA
