Hanoi (VNA) – A press competition aiming to
increase public engagement in eradicating tuberculosis (TB) in Vietnam has been
launched in response to the upcoming (March 24).

With a deadline set for January 1, 2019, submissions can be in form of text or
video. A text entry must be under 1,500 words, be accompanied by at least one
high resolution photo, and containing five related articles in maximum. A video
submission must not be longer than 10 minutes and have associated title,
narrative or subtitle.

Vietnamese citizens and Vietnamese living and working in
Vietnam as well as foreigners living in Vietnam are eligible to participate.

Recommended themes include examples of early diagnosis,
patients’ efforts in fighting the disease, TB treatment and caring experiences,
and public initiatives that work.

Writings about good examples of medical workers and social
activists in the fight against TB are also welcomed.

The competition’s award ceremony is slated for March 24 next
year, with lists of winner published on website of the National Lung Hospital
and several popular online newspapers such as dantri.com.vn, vnexpress.net and
vietnamplus.vn, along with the fanpages of the national anti-TB programme at https://www.facebook.com/CTCLQG/ and
of the contest at http://bit.ly/anti-TB-contest-Vietnam.

Vietnam recorded about 130,000 people diagnosed with TB
yearly, of whom about 7,000 had both TB and HIV, over 5,000 had multi
drug-resistant TB, and about 300 patients had extensively drug-resistant TB. -VNA
