Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s medical
facilities have recorded an increasing number of foreign patients in recent
years.

In 2018, domestic hospitals provided checkups,
treatment, and first aid for about 300,000 foreigners. They were mainly
overseas Vietnamese and people from the neighbouring countries of Laos and Cambodia,
as well as foreigners living and working in Vietnam.

The most requested medical services include
dentistry, cardiovascular interventions, cancer treatment, and cosmetic
surgery, among others.

The in
2018 provided medical checkups for more than 660 foreigners and treatment for
about 1,220 inpatients.

Meanwhile, the Military Central Hospital
108 also received a growing number of patients from Russia, the US, the
Republic of Korea (RoK), and China throughout the year.

Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien said
that many s opt for medical services in Vietnam thanks to the affordable
treatment and high quality of skilled doctors with a high success rate compared
to those in other countries.

In particular, the Vietnam-Germany Hospital
in Hanoi recently saved a Japanese tourist, aged 67, who suffered from type A
aortic dissection.

The had also successfully
rescued a 40-year-old patient from the RoK with subarachnoid haemorrhage due to
aortic aneurysm.

In addition, the National K (Cancer)
Hospital performed a complex surgery to remove a large tumour for a Japanese
living in Vietnam. –VNA
