Hanoi (VNA) – The , in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam Youth Federation, the Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association, and the representative office of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Vietnam, held a meeting in Hanoi on April 8 in response to the
themed “Health for all”.

Speaking at the event, Minister of
Health Dao Hong Lan reiterated Vietnam’s policy of making public health care a top task. She said the event aims to convey the message on health improving practices for disease prevention and control, for changing lives and for
a healthier Vietnam.

WHO Representative in Vietnam Angela
Pratt said Vietnam,
like other countries in the world, is currently facing serious challenges to
community health, including the increasing demand for healthcare services, an
aging population, infectious diseases, climate change affecting human health, and non-communicable diseases such as cancer, heart diseases, illnesses caused by
smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, unhealthy eating habits and lack of
physical activity.

To address these challenges, she underlined the importance
of multilateral cooperation and the role of young people in the cause of public health,
towards the goal of achieving better health for everyone.

At
the event, delegates joined in a mass dance performance and a walk for health.

On the occasion, thousands of people in Hanoi
were screened for diseases and received advices on treatment using a health care
app by more than 150 doctors from hospitals across the city./.
