Hanoi (VNA) – A total of 114 cases of measles were recorded in the
capital city of Hanoi since the start of 2019, the municipal Health Department
reported.
The city detected 91 dengue
cases, 59 hand-foot-mouth infections and 21 whooping cough patients. No deaths
were recorded from these diseases.
Hoang Duc Hanh, vice director of the
department, said the situation of diseases during the Lunar
New Year (Tet) holiday was under control.
“There are no big outbreaks
or dangerous epidemics,” he said.
Since the beginning of
2019, the city has not recorded cases of MERS-CoV, Ebola, Influenza A (H5N6),
Influenza A (H7N9), or the Zika virus.
However, the current
weather could facilitate the development of respiratory and digestive pathogen
diseases, especially during the festivals in the beginning of the lunar year.
To proactively prevent
these epidemics, the health department warned people to take the initiative in
environmental hygiene and disinfection, improve the body’s resistance, ensure
food hygiene and have all their vaccinations.-VNA
