First liver transplant successfully performed in central region

(VNA) – Doctors of Hue Central Hospital in Thua Thien-Hue province have
successfully performed a liver transplant on a patient with a tumour and
hepatitis B.

The 52-year-old patient,
Le Khac Ty, had been treated in at the hospital since 2014 for a
tumour, as well as hepatitis B and cirrhosis.

He was advised to have a
liver transplant and was put on the waiting list.

The patient received the
new liver, which was donated by a brain dead patient in Hanoi, on August 31.

After 45 days of
transplantation, the patient well recovered and came his normal life. 

This was the first
patient in the central and Central Highlands regions who was successfully
transplanted liver by doctors of the ./.
