Hanoi (VNA) – The number
of new dengue fever infections nationwide has dropped for eight consecutive
weeks, announced the General Department of Preventive Medicine under the Health
Ministry on October 26.
According to statistics of the
ministry, recorded 862 cases last week, 159 less than the
previous week and 2,707 (or 75.8 percent) below this year’s peak.
Notably, the country recorded no
deaths in the period. As many as 781 dengue patients are currently being
treated in hospitals nationwide.
The capital city of Hanoi witnessed a
fall in new dengue cases in the last nine weeks. The city recorded 1,021 cases
last week, down 46 compared the previous week and 2,547 compared to its peak.
The country’s health sector has
monitored dengue’s spread and launched numerous activities to tackle the
disease. It also warned people to stay vigilant as November normally sees an
increase in dengue cases.-VNA
