HCM City (VNA) – The People’s Committee of Ho Chi
Minh City has asked for more medical staff to support its
prevention and control efforts.

In a proposal sent to the Prime Minister, the city hopes to
receive an additional 5,000 doctors, nurses and technicians, along with 2,000
serving COVID-19 testing.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health sent 1,936 medical workers from 25 central hospitals, ministries, sectors and health departments of cities
and provinces nationwide to HCM City.

Meanwhile, more than 1,600 lecturers and students
from medical universities and colleges have also been mobilised to assist the
city in stamping out the pandemic.

According to the municipal Department of Health, as of July 23
noon, HCM City had recorded 49,176 .

In the morning of June 23, the Military High Command of HCM
City started to spray disinfectant in the entire city as part of the efforts to prevent the spreading of the pandemic.

According to Colonel Tu Minh Son, head of the Chemicals
Division under the Military Region 7, the disinfection campaign will run until
July 29.

 
The Military High Command of neighbouring Binh Duong province will also launch a similar
campaign from July 24.

The Military Region 7 will decide on a plan to spray disinfectant in other provinces and cities depending on COVID-19 developments in each
locality, he added./.
