Hanoi (VNA) – A three-month-old baby from
the northern province of Vinh Phuc, Vietnam’s youngest coronavirus disease ()
patient, has been successfully treated, according to the National Children’s
Hospital.
The baby tested positive for the virus on
February 11 after her grandmother had contact with a coronavirus patient on
January 22.
The baby and her mother stayed at the
grandmother’s house for four days from January 26 to 29.
After her grandmother tested positive for the
virus, the local disease monitoring centre made a list of people who had
contact with her, including the baby and her mother.
Five days before she was hospitalised, the baby
showed symptoms of coughing, a runny nose, and slight fever.
She was examined and quarantined at a local
clinic in Binh Xuyen district, Vinh Phuc.
After testing positive for the novel ,
the patient was transferred to the the same day.
As of February 13, she had no symptoms of fever
and coughing.
From February 14 to 17, her condition stabilised.
The hospital took her blood sample for the
second test on February 14 and the third on February 17 that came back negative
for the coronavirus.
So far, 15 out of the 16 coronavirus patients in
Vietnam have been successfully treated and discharged from hospital.
Since February 13, Vietnam has recorded no new
infections./.
