Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has successfully produced a to combat the Porcilis Porcine Reproductive Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS), which is also known as “Blue Ear Pig Disease”, according to the Vietnam Veterinary Association (VVA).
The PRRS epidemic has appeared and raged in Vietnam over the last decade, and the majority of vaccines are imported from China, reported the Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper.
Chairman of VVA Doc Ngoc Hao said Vietnam has spent trillions of VND on importing vaccines, and the country had planned to produce its own vaccine and become self-sufficient by 2010.
The said 883,800 pigs had died or been culled since the emerged in the country in 2007.
The first batch of PRRS vaccine was tested in Ha Tinh, Quang Ninh, and Khanh Hoa provinces in October 2015 with positive results.-VNA
