Occupational diseases on the rise (Photo vnmedia.vn)
Hanoi (VNA) – A report
reveals that each year 100,000 labourers in the country were checked for
and more than 5,000 found to have diseases.
According to the report, employers and companies are
implementing periodical medical examinations for workers.
The total number receiving the from
2011-17 increased 1.6 times against the 2006-10 period. Every year,
between two and three million labourers receive periodical examinations.
However, this figure only accounts for about 20 percent of
the total number of employees nationwide.
The current periodical health examinations are for the
detection of common diseases in only a few enterprises. There is no mechanism
for labourers without labour contracts to receive the tests.
Agencies and enterprises operating in fields where the
working environment can be dangerous, must check for occupational diseases in
addition to , according to Vietnamese labour
